Pilates and Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by pain, sleep disturbances and general fatigue. Doctors recommend exercise within the person's ability to help with the symptoms.

There has been some recent research into the benefits of exercise for fibromyalgia. As we know, Pilates provides us with a unique ability to coordinate breath, movement, and focus on alignment and control.

Research has concluded that Pilates, specifically, is a very good way to help manage the symptoms. Benefits included general well-being, less anxiety and improved overall bodily functionality. Also exercise in group Pilates classes gives people a positive aspect of social interaction which is also great for anyone experiencing this condition.
