October is Menopause Awareness Month

Updated: Oct 26, 2021

October is Menopause awareness month. This is a great time to consider this important milestone for so many ladies around the world.

Traditionally called “the Change”, this can be a challenging time for many. The hormone fluctuations can bring about mood swings, temperature control quirks, weight changes, digestive challenges, sleep pattern alterations, can have social and relationship impacts, and reduced libido (sex drive). Oh, and did I mention physical body changes?

It’s a minefield. It’s real. We need to be ready.

Luckily, there is a lot we can do.

The days of this being a quiet dark secret in a woman’s life are behind us now. The various taboos surrounding the natural cycle of female hormones are finally being addressed. Let’s talk menopause, ladies and gentlemen. Yes, gentlemen too, as you need to know about this to best support the women in your life.

Throughout October, I will publish a series of posts about various aspects of the menopause from my perspective as a holistic movement therapist.

I am collaborating on this with my good friend and colleague Julia Witherspoon who works at Julia Nutrition. Julia, a nutritionist passionate about helping ladies breeze through the menopause, has worked with me to provide you with essential input from her area of expertise.

Julia is a registered nutritional therapist specialising in women’s health, more specifically women’s health through the torrid years of perimenopause. Julia had a particularly difficult menopause experience herself, and had no idea at the time that the myriad of debilitating symptoms she was experiencing in her early forties was anything to do with menopause. She thought she was going slowly mad and no-one suggested that her insomnia, increasing anxiety, tearfulness, lack of confidence, mood swings, aches and pains (and more) might be related to the menopause. She eventually worked it out for herself after suffering for a 2-3 years, and was able to positively turn her health around by changing her diet and lifestyle.

I can't wait to share with you the result of our collaboration to help women feel on top of these transitional years of their lives.

To your health at any stage of your life,

Kaye x
